A 19-year-old Newbury Park man was arrested in Ventura early Sunday for allegedly attempting to commit a property crime.
At 3:50 a.m. police received a call from a resident in the 6700 block of Ralston Street who said a man was crouching near a porch window trying to hide from police who were patrolling the area due to recent burglaries.
The suspect, Juan Guzman, walked out into the street after a few minutes and neighbors confirmed he was in a backyard without permission, police said.
It was determined that Guzman was prowling the area attempting to steal property, police said.
Guzman was arrested on suspicion of prowling and was booked into Ventura County jail.
