A 34-year-old man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of robbing an acquaintance at a Ventura home.
The 26-year-old victim was waiting for Halloween trick-or-treaters in his residence in the 400 block of Cornell Place in Ventura shortly before 8 p.m. when two people he knew charged in through his unlocked door and confronted him.
They stole a bottle of prescription medication that was nearby, surrounded the victim, struggled with him, took money and left on bicycles, police said.
An officer responding to the incident saw the two people on bicycles near Bryn Mawr Street and Aurora Drive, and police later caught one of them near Stanford Street and Wake Forest Avenue, officials said.
That suspect, Ryan Leavitt of Ventura, had the prescription medication and money from the victim's home in his possession, police said.
Leavitt was booked into Ventura County jail on suspicion of robbery and possessing a controlled substance, jail records show. He was in custody Tuesday in lieu of $115,000 bail.
Police did not find the second person but have identified him and his arrest is "imminent," officials said.
The victim was not injured, police said.
