A man driving on Highway 101 through Thousand Oaks on Tuesday morning reported a road rage incident involving a handgun, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
A driver passing through the city had a tan pickup tailgating him for several miles about 10:54 a.m.
The suspect then passed the victim and brandished a small semi-automatic handgun.
The victim called authorities on his cellphone. Ventura County deputies responded but could not find the truck, but the victim got the license plate number. The registered owner is from Venice Beach, so sheriff's deputies passed the information to the Los Angeles Police Department, Pacific Division, to follow up.
The victim did not want prosecution, he added.
