Ventura County sheriff's deputies arrested three men today on accusations of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possessing methamphetamine.
Authorities said arrested in Moorpark were Joshua Brockway, 25; Christopher Klein, 22; and Christopher Johnson, 24. Deputies also said they arrested Chelsea Fisher, 21, on suspicion of strong-arm robbery.
Deputies said they were alerted to the four after being told that the group was at a Radio Shack in Moorpark. The group purchased a police scanner at the store, deputies said, adding that no laws were broken while they are at the outlet. Deputies later spotted the four and chased Fisher on foot before arresting her.
The three men had been in a stolen vehicle that was taken from Camarillo.
The four were taken to Ventura County jail.
Possession of a controlled substance, even if the defendant is not under the influence of the drug and is not trying to sell the drug, is still a serious criminal offense. Possession of cocaine, heroin and certain prescription drugs such as hydrocodone and codeine is a felony offense that may result in a defendant facing criminal charges, where a defendant may face up to 3 years in state prison. Lesser penalties may apply if a defendant is accused of marijuana possession.
