Whittier teacher arrested on suspicion of lewd acts on a middle school student

Police arrested a Whittier teacher, Jesse Anthony Serrato, on suspicion of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Police were contacted Tuesday by East Wittier Middle School after information emerged about this possible "inappropriate relationship." Serrato, 29, is being charged with lewd acts on a child.

He was immediately placed on administrative leave by the East Whittier City School District. He was also a parttime coach at La Serna High School in Whittier.

Serrato is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Authorities are seeking the public's assistance in locating other potential victims.
