A judge on Friday sentenced a former part-time bookkeeper to the maximum sentence of 18 years in prison for stealing more than $750,000 over a five-year period from Simi Valley Cycles.
In April, Jennifer Zito, 37, was found guilty of six counts of embezzlement, seven counts of grand theft, and five counts of filing false income tax returns. She was found not guilty of identity theft and not guilty of forgery.
Allegedly Zito stole money, five vehicles and a generator from Simi Cycles, a motorcycle and ATV sales and service business. She was arrested in July 2009. They said she spent most of the money on buying and training horses for equestrian shows.
