Santa Barbara police on Friday identified the man taken into custody Thursday evening near the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 33 outside Ventura after a bank was robbed in Santa Barbara County.
Police identified the man as David Negrette. He was described as in his 40s, but his city of residence was not available.
He was arrested on suspicion of two bank robberies, a residential burglary and auto theft.
The arrest came after a Bank of America was robbed in Santa Barbara earlier Thursday, Santa Barbara police said.
The arrest reportedly came after a chase southward into Ventura County. The car crashed into an embankment, according to a person who visited the scene after the incident.
A defendant in Los Angeles may face misdemeanor or felony charges for burglary, depending on the type of structure entered as well as the use of a weapon and other factors. A felony burglary conviction on a defendant's record may also mean a "
strike" on his or her record, resulting in greatly enhanced penalties for future felony convictions.
