An Oxnard man was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of robbery and kidnapping for the purpose of robbery as well as assault with a deadly weapon, attempted carjacking and a gang allegation.
Manuel Martinez's arrest follows an investigation of a string of armed robberies and carjackings in south Oxnard over a three-week period.
Martinez, 20, is an alleged gang member, and was released from Folsom prison two months ago. Police recently did a parole search of his home and found a wallet belonging to a recent robbery victim that had been robbed at gunpoint.
Two other robberies occurred in late March. One involved a high school student who was walking to school, taken to a secluded area, threatened and then assaulted before being robbed.
