A suspected drunk driver slammed into an LAPD patrol car early Wednesday morning in South Los Angeles and then tried to flee the scene.
The driver of a pickup truck was heading south on Main Street around 2 a.m. when the vehicle allegedly ran a red light and hit the police cruiser traveling west on Jefferson Boulevard, said LAPD spokeswoman Rosario Herrera.
The police sergeant in the patrol car suffered minor lacerations and was treated at a hospital.
The pickup driver and a passenger attempted to flee on foot but were arrested three blocks away. Police have not released their names.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run.
