An 18-year-old man was pepper-sprayed and robbed Sunday night in Ventura.
The Ventura teen was walking in the 3100 block of Preble Avenue about 10:40 p.m. with three people he had met earlier in the evening when one of them, a female, asked to see his iPhone, then pepper-sprayed him in the face when he asked for it back, police said.
Disoriented, the victim fled, as did the female and two males she was with.
Officers found the victim nearby washing his face with a garden hose in the 300 block of Valmore Avenue.
Anyone with information about the incident can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters who give information leading to an arrest could receive up to a $1,000 reward.
