A 32-year-old man was under arrest Friday on suspicion of lewd conduct involving four girls at a public swimming pool in Los Angeles.
Darnell Island, of Compton, is accused of touching the girls, ages 9 to 13, in an inappropriate manner at the Ted Watkins Memorial Park Pool East 103rd Street.
Island was taken into custody Wednesday after lifeguards at the pool reported the incidents.
They told deputies an adult male in the pool was touching girls.
The deputies then interviewed four alleged victims who said they had been touched by the suspect on areas of their body that made them uncomfortable.
Island was being held Friday on $100,000 bail.
A defendant may be arrested or may receive a citation for lewd conduct in public. If either of these have happened to you or someone you know, the first thing you should do is contact an attorney. You have the right to seek legal counsel, and taking immediate advantage of this right may mean the difference between a conviction and freedom.
