Here's another Craigslist crime. A man went to buy an iPhone that was posted on Craigslist.org when he was robbed at gunpoint Saturday.
The man had arranged to pay $500 for the phone and met the seller behind a Carl's Jr. restaurant in Temple City at about 3:20 p.m.
Instead, the seller pulled out a semiautomatic pistol, took the victim's cash and fled on foot.
The suspect was described as Asian, about 5 feet 9 inches and 160 pounds, wearing a red jacket.
The victim did all he could to ensure the transaction was safe. He made sure it was in broad daylight and at a public place; however, that didn't stop the robbery.
The online marketplace can be a dangerous way to do business.
If you or someone you know are facing robbery charges, the most important thing you can do is hire a criminal defense lawyer. Robbery or armed robbery are felony offenses that may lead to significant prison times if you are convicted. They are also considered
"strike" offense under California's Three Strikes Law.
