A 62-year-old Santa Paula man has been found not guilty of manufacturing methamphetamine 200 feet from Highway 126.
The judge found Antonio Nava guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Nava is facing up to three years in jail for the weapons conviction. Nava wanted a judge instead of a jury to hear his criminal case.
Heller said two females at the scene were in possession of meth. He said experts who know how to dismantle a meth lab safely were called.
Manufacturing is a type of drug crime that involves preparing, deriving, producing or repackaging any type of controlled substance. This may include illegal street drugs such as heroin, cocaine or methamphetamine as well as prescription drugs if the producer is not a lawful manufacturer. This is a felony offense. Possession of materials for the purpose of manufacturing drugs is also a crime but is a lesser offense charged as a misdemeanor.
