Fires in two bathrooms Tuesday at Ventura High School were being investigated as arson, authorities said.
The fires were reported about 11:45 a.m. at the school at 2 N. Catalina St. Paper was piled on floors and then lit, and in one case, toilet paper and cover dispensers in a stall were burned.
School personnel put out most of the flames with fire extinguishers, and both fires were contained to the bathrooms, officials said.
No injuries were reported, and classes remained in session.
The fire department was working with the Ventura school resource officer to determine who set the fires.
