26-year-old Jose Luis Medel was arrested Wednesday after detectives investigating residential burglaries found him with stolen property, illegal guns and drugs.
Medel was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine for sale, child endangerment and weapons charges.
Included in the stolen property were Wii video game systems and stolen laptop computers. They also found Medel with a half pound of methamphetamine and 29 guns, including several stolen during residential burglaries and several illegal assault rifles.
Investigators also found many illegal high-capacity magazines.
Medel was booked into Ventura County jail and released on $50,000 bail early Friday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court April 13.
If you or someone you know is facing
drug possession charges or other
drug crime charges, the best thing you can do is hire a
criminal defense lawyer.
Possession with intent to sell is a more serious offense than simple possession and is a felony in California. A defendant may face 2, 3 or 4 years in state prison.
Rehabilitation in lieu of imprisonment is also not available to offenders who have been convicted of possession with intent, unless your attorney is able to negotiate a plea bargain with the prosecuting attorney.
