ESPN sports personality Jay Mariotti has been charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. 
He was originally charged with felony battery but there was not enough evidence to charge him with a felony.
The charges stem from an argument between Mr Mariotti and his girlfriend that started at a club in Santa Monica and continued at their apartment. He allegedly accused her of flirting with another man, the altercation escalated to him shoving and grabbing her.
In addition to the domestic charges he is also charged with grand theft and vandalism.
If convicted on all counts he could face seven years in jail
