The leader of the 'Hillside Burglars', a group of people believed to be responsible for more than 150 home invasions, has been sentence to 17 years in prison for his crimes.
Forty seven year old Troy Corsby Thomas has pleaded no contest to the crimes as part of a plea deal which likely kept him from receiving a much more lengthy sentence.
Reports say the jury was being selected in his case when the plea deal was reached.
The group was able to keep cops confused until a security camera caught an image. Those involved wore simple black clothing and entered homes of celebrities and other influential wealthy people stealing an untold amount of money. Reportedly $500,000 from a single home.
Police believe the dollar value of stolen goods to be in excess of ten million dollars.

"Even misdemeanor shoplifting charges must be taken seriously. What doesn't appear to be a big deal at the time can become a serious threat to your future. If the charges are for felony theft, burglary, or possession of stolen property, a conviction becomes even more serious under California's three strike law." - Robert Helfend
