Police said had two recent failed attempts of arson gone undetected, results could have been catastrophic.
A southern California resident and a neighbor rushed to put out the fire started by a Molotov cocktail thrown in the front yard of a home housing two families. This was the second attempt in two hours.
Police have little to go on and are asking for eye witnesses to come forward. No motive was immediately apparent. The fire department rushed to the scene where a car was damaged but the home and occupants were uninjured. An investigation is underway.
If the attempts would have resulted in a fire multiple people could have been injured. When the suspect is found and charged they will more than likely face attempted murder charges along with the arson charges.
