Man Pleads Guilty To 2002 Rape Of 94 Year Old Woman

In 2002 a 94 year old women was asleep in her apartment in an assisted living facility in Palo Alto California when an Hispanic man entered her room and raped her. The woman, who was not named, fought her assailant by scratching him and ended up tearing accessories from him. Recently Roberto Recendes pleaded guilty to the crime and will now face seventeen years in prison.
Recendes was previously accused of the crime and pleaded not guilty, however after his DNA was found in the sheets of the bed as well as his DNA mixed with the victims was also found in the apartment, Roberto opted for a plea bargain that would allow him to face a numbered prison sentence.

The woman, who was never named and instead referred to only as Jane Doe throughout the trial, has died since the incident.
