On January twenty sixth 1994, Rupert Thompson and his wife were sleeping soundly in their home when they heard glass break, it was slightly before one am. What occurred next will sound like something from a movie script.
The man who entered their house beat Rupert over the head several times and then shot both people. The wife was hit in the chest and the man left thinking both parties were dead. Mr. Thompson did indeed die from his injuries, but his wife lived.
Now fourteen years later, DNA has linked a suspect currently serving time on other charges to this murder. Kevin Bernard Smith was serving time in Mississippi but has been sent to Los Angeles to face these charges as well. He may have to face the death penalty for his crime.
Los Angeles Murder Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend is no stranger to tough cases and he will never shy away from a murder charge.
Robert Helfend will instead strive to see your charges reduced or even dropped if the evidence is not rock solid. It is difficult to prove that a murder from fourteen years ago was perpetrated by an inmate who is only serving time for narcotics, Ventura County Defense Attorney Robert Helfend will strive to make it even more so.
Don't give up on yourself or your loved ones if they have been charged with vicious crimes, fourteen years is a long time to change and Robert Helfend will attempt to show the court how human his clients are and therefore keep them alive and maybe even out of prison sooner than expected.
