In 2005 a woman used a broken bottle to cut the neck and face of popular actor Leanardo DiCaprio. Luckily Dicaprio, known for such Hollywood blockbusters as Titanic and The Departed, did not suffer any permanent damage.
Aretha Wilson, a former model, said that she mistook the actor for an ex boyfriend and therefore slashed at his face. After the incident she fled the country and was in Canada until she was arrested for the crime. Dicaprio needed 17 stitches, and was most likely quite shaken, but was otherwise fine.
Facing a possible seven years in prison, Wilson took a plea arrangement that allowed her to serve only two years in California prison by pleading no contest to the charges.
Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Helfend could help in this case. Perhaps she thought herself in danger from the ex boyfriend she mistook Dicaprio for. Whatever the details Robert Helfend would fight hard for the rights of the defendant he represents in an effort to keep them out of jail and free of a record.
