Three men, who were not named, have been accused this month of using some sort of device implanted in gas pumps to skim off more than one hundred and sixty thousand dollars from approximately 200 residents of the Los Angeles area.
The police found the devices on gas pumps running all over Northern California. The men were seen on security cameras driving an Escalade. They would pull up to each station and use keys to unlock the pumps. They then inserted the devices which were later found to have the ability to store not only credit and debit card numbers but also the pin numbers of each card.
The men will be charged with multiple counts of felony identity theft as well as other things.
Although investigators have reported that each person victimized by the scam was reimbursed by their banks, the banks themselves will seek retribution in court.
In this case Los Angeles ID Theft Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend could help. He will meet with all three individuals accused and put together an aggressive defense plan aimed to use any and all legal tactics to get reduced or even drpped charges for all three when possible.
