Serious charges have been filed against not only a man who was allegedly assaulting two women while maintaining a job as a police officer, but also the city due to allegations of other officers ignoring reports and pleas from the victims.

Former Huntington beach police officer James Roberts III, age 34, will be arraigned Tuesday on 20 felony charges including rape, forcible sodomy, false imprisonment by violence or deceit, criminal threats, domestic battery, aggravated assault, dissuading a witness and vandalism.
Roberts is charged with acts against his wife and alleged mistress while serving as an officer. On Feb. 26th Roberts plead not guilty to all of the above charges.
Roberts' alleged mistress and his wife have both filed different suits against the city for the officials conspiring to allow the alleged abuse to continue by ignoring and covering it up.
