On the night of Friday Nov. 27, 2010 Los Angeles deputies were called to an apartment at the 18500 block of Colima Road in Rowland heights. When Deputy Mark Pope arrived on the scene he was flagged down by a woman who told him that
her son was attacking her boyfriend.
Once the countless officers were inside the apartment they saw the woman's son
strattling her boyfriend and slashing at his face with a meat clever.
"The deputies ordered the suspect to stop and drop the cleaver several times," Pope said. "The suspect ignored the deputies' command and continued slashing the victim."
Realizing that the man was not going to stop
one of the officers drew his gun and shot him in the torso three times. After being shot the man finally stood up walked to the kitchen and collapsed dead.
Authorities say the victim, although suffering from slashes to his head, neck, and upper torso, is expected to survive.
Authorities have not released the identity of either men or the officer involved in the shooting.
A routine investigation has been opened into the deputy involved in the shooting.
Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend could help the officer in this case if he is accused of a crime. With over two decades of experience in fighting for the rights of the residents of Ventura County he is ready willing and able to fight for you should you be charged with a crime.
