In early November Jean Marie Berlinghoff went missing and was believed to have been taken by her 44 year old uncle Charles Berlinghoff.
The girl's father, Jake, had reportedly confronted Charles because of some text messages he found that may have shown the girl and her uncle had engaged in sexual activity. The 15 year old girl then disappeared along with her uncle who has been convicted of other sex crimes, although his record was expunged so he is not a registered sex offender.
Recently police found an older model Oldsmobile which is the car the two were thought to have been traveling in. They are very optimistic, although tight lipped, about their findings.
The family is hoping that this break in the case will bring an end to their suffering and bring their daughter home. "They found the car and that's all we know," Heather Vega, the girl's mother, said. "I'm hoping this will bring her home faster. I hate waiting."
When the accused in this case is found and brought before a judge he will need an excellent defense attorney.
