Crime Stoppers worked last week when an anonymous tip led to the arrest of heroin dealers in Newbury Park.
"That happens a lot. People call with information, they get assigned a number and if the information leads to a conviction, they get reward money," said Detective Eric Buschow of Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
After the tip police set up surveillance which showed two people allegedly making a drug buy. The two were arrested without resisting at a hotel in the area around 3 o'clock in the afternoon on the 28th of April.
Robert Rubio 20, and a 16 year old girl were reportedly holding a small amount of heroin at their time of capture and were taken in by the drug task force. They also had stolen property in the vehicle they were driving. Both were arraigned on April 30th.
Rubio pleaded not guilty to all charges, which included employment of a minor to sell or carry a narcotic, and he will appear in court again on May 18th. The girl's records are sealed in juvenile court.
