One year ago in March a Coniva woman, 44 year old Susan Molina, was found in the closet of her apartment. Her roomate, 38 year old Julie Lynn McChristy, fled the state after the murder. She had been using Molina's car and cell phone since her
death.
McChristy was found on an Amtrack train on April 3rd 2009 and was immediately arrested for the murder. Although no reason for the crime has been released McChristy admitted to the murder. Her sentencing hearing has been scheduled.
A spokeswoman for the District Attorney, Shiara Davila-Morales, said that McChristy will most likely be sentanced to 15 years to life because of her plea.
Murder is serious in any state but in the state of California, because of the death penalty, it's even more so. Trusting your defense attorney is paramount in a case where you've been accused of taking another person's life.
"After being charged with homicide, you need an attorney whom you can trust with your life because, in California, that is exactly what you are doing. When we meet, I will clearly explain the charges against you, what you should expect next, and how your decisions will affect your case. The relationship of trust and honest communication that you develop with your murder defense lawyer will become your most important asset over the next several months and even years. I will be there for you. I will use every possible legal maneuver to have your charges dismissed or dropped." - Robert Helfend
