On Monday night a family who had just arrived home from an evening out, answered a knock at the door. There were two
men who claimed to be LAPD officers with information about an accident involving their car. When the women of the house opened the screen door they burst in and attempted to rob them.
“No one was injured and the crooks did not get away with anything,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, commanding officer of Central Detective Division. “It could have ended much worse, were it not for the quick thinking of family members.”
One of the men grabbed the woman by the throat and threw her to the ground and then did the same to her son. Other family members ran to the yard and screamed for a neighbor to call the police which scared the men off. When police arrived the suspects were gone and no one was severely harmed.
