Three weeks ago a man who was known as a kind and 'normal' guy apparently snapped and shot up his neighborhood
critically wounding his fiancée.
"This is just completely, totally out of character for him," said Paolucci's former roommate, Frank Torres of Granada Hills. "I was going to be his best man, and I lived with him. But the person who is charged with doing this - that person I just don't know."
Jason Paolucci was engaged to be married and seemed happy. With his wedding date of April 30th approaching he was doing the normal groom duties and both he and his fiance were excited.
"He apparently had a dark side to him that we didn't know anything about," said Robert Rector, father of the would-have-been-bride.
No one knows what made Jason snap but when police finally arrested him after a 10 hour standoff, they found an arsenal of weapons including assault rifles.
He is charged with attempted murder, assault on a peace officer, possession of a machine gun as well as many others.
Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend could help in this case. Although no lawyer should ever promise to win a case, he would do everything he can legally do to get these charges reduced or dropped. By reviewing his case histories you can see that he has the experience to go to bat for a person who feels like the charges being filed against them are air tight. Mr. Helfend has often found holes in the arguments or procedures used by the prosecuting attorneys and police that end up getting cases thrown out.
