Sentancing is set for next month in the case of torture, arson, and murder of a homeless man by the hand of Ben Matthew
Martin. The 31 year old man apparently disliked homeless people in general. A year and a half ago he found 55 year old John Robert McGraham, a harmless homeless man, asleep and doused him with flammable liquid and set him on fire with a road flare.
McGraham, according to relatives, suffered from mental illness and had lived on the streets for years. Most residents and shop owners in the area said that he didn't bother people and mostly kept to his own. He was not a nuisance in anyway and didn't deserve to be treated poorly let alone murdered in such an awful way.
More than 200 people showed up to McGraham's memorial service a few days after his killing.
Martin has pleaded guilty and faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
