Joe Francis, founder of Girls Gone Wild, was able to bribe prison officials to allow him to get sushi and DVD's while in prison so that he could continue to 'live it up' behind bars the same as he did on the outside. The situation was discovered and
charges filed against those who let him get preferential treatment two years ago.
That case has come to an end this week and the last defendant, 54 year old Mary Boxx, was sentenced to 100 hours community service, 3 years probation and over 16,000 dollars in fines.
She tearfully apologized for her actions and even admitted to also bringing in special tanning lotion for Francis during his incarceration. The judge did allow her to move to NY to help take care of her grandchildren due to the fact that their father is about to be deployed to Afghanistan. She will serve her probation and community service hours there.
Although this seems like a harsh punishment, it's actually a victory for Boxx as the maximum penalty was two years in federal prison.
This type of case is one where Los Angeles Attorney Robert Michael Helfend can shine. He has seen many clients through cases and helped them avoid prison time altogether in his 20 plus year career. He can help you too if you should ever be charged with a crime in the Ventura County area.
No one should live in fear of jail time and no one should wonder what all the legal jargon and courtroom drama means. Robert Helfend will sit with you personally and explain everything in details from charges to outcome so that you understand your rights and eventually your punishment.
