Rodolfo Gallegos was extradited from Mexico last year to stand trial for the murder of a Burbank teenager back in 1991.
He is now being held on a two million dollar bail, but has entered a not guilty plea. Authorities say that he shot and killed Kenneth Caldera, and wounded two others when he mistakenly thought they were members of a rival gang who were driving by. He was sixteen at the time and simply shot at them because of who he thought they were. Caldera and his friends were driving home from a party.
The LAPD are cracking down hard on gang related crimes and enlisting several methods, some of which are questionable, to attempt to clean up the Los Angeles area. The task forces working on these issues are doing a great job thus far.
Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend can help in a case like this. In viewing his case histories you can see some of the sucesses Mr. Helfend has been able to see in gang related crime.
"Police find loaded firearm on client after a search of his person. District Attorney unable to proceed and the CASE WAS DISMISSED after Mr. Helfend successfully argued to Court that client was illegally searched." ~ "Client was indicted for conspiring to purchase and sell 12 kilos of cocaine. Special agents arrested the client's 3 codefendants at the scene with 12 kilos and over $100,000. The client was supposedly heard on a wiretap arranging the transaction. Through careful analysis of the government's evidence and skillful use of expert witnesses, Mr. Helfend successfully persuades the U.S. Attorneys Office to DISMISS the case prior to trial."
