Cops Being Targeted

There have been several recent attacks on the gang task force in Riverside County. The first was a redirected gas pipeline which caused the unmarked task force building to fill with fumes; one spark could have set it ablaze in a huge explosion. The second was a homade zip gun rigged at the gate of the the task force headquarters which went off when an officer opened the gate missing him by inches. Other attacks have been called in threats to blow up a police car, dangerous devices found on and underneath police cars and the list goes on.
Last Tuesday the most recent attack set several task force trucks on fire as they sat in the city hall parking lot. It was a gutsy and extremely dangerous crime.
"We are assuming, because of the timing, that this is related to the other three attacks on our gang task force," said Lt. Duane Wisehart "We are looking mostly at gangs as suspects because our task force is being targeted."
Police are definetly on their toes but not at all intimidated. "They are being more cautious," Wisenhart said. "But there is also a sense of determination that they really want these people caught."
