Brittany Murphy's death was officially ruled to have been caused by anemia and pneumonia, however it has come out recently that she was receiving as many as 400 and almost never fewer than 200 pills per month from one pharmacy. She was allegedly using alias and her mother and husband were also getting prescriptions filled.

The owner of the shop said that he cut the trio off four months before Murphy's death because he was afraid of an accident happening due to the fact that the prescriptions were all for serious narcotics like Vicodin and Klonopin as well as other drugs.
Simon Monjack, Brittany's husband, did say that the couple used aliases to get their prescriptions filled but only because of the need for privacy.
"You know how this town is," Monjack told TMZ. "We're the ones who cut Eddie's Pharmacy off."
Drug intoxication was on the autopsy report as a secondary cause of death.
