A brunette woman's head was found in a backpack in the San Bernardino dessert last week. Apparently a man who was collecting cans on Feb 10th, came across a backpack that had the entire human head. The area where the head was found was near Lenwood Rd. west of a residential neighborhood and close to several truck stops approximately half a mile west of Tortoise Road.
DNA samples and x-rays were taken of the head and sent into the state, which was wrapped in plastic bags
. Some of the plastic bags bore the logo of 'Fiesta Foods' which seems to only have nine locations all located in or around the Orange County and Los Angeles area. Coroner's have said that the head appears to be that of a white of hispanic woman with no scars or markings to aid identification.
Barstow police are asking anyone who may have tips, ideas, or know any information about the head to call Detective Keith Libby at 760-255-5134. Anonymous tipsters may call 800-78-CRIME.
