Howard Astorga, a known gang member in Echo Park, was just convicted of first degree murder for the shooting of 4 year old Roberto Lopez Jr. last week. Young Roberto was headed to the park in his neighborhood with his sister and cousins and was killed by a stray bullet being shot at a rival gang member's car.
The funeral for the little boy who is mourned by his entire n
eighborhood is being held this Friday and will be officiated by Cardinal Roger Mahony.
This tragedy is an awful truth for many neighborhoods in Los Angeles and the issue of gang violence must be addressed with more police presence and a higher level of care given to the residents of the Echo Park area and others like it. Roberto's uncle say the family is requesting these steps to be taken to help prevent future tragedies.
The shooter, Howard Astorga has three prior felony convictions and will now face up to 82 years in prison. Los Angeles area attorney Robert Helfend has taken on cases such as these and will help anyone who contacts him needing help. Mr Helfend and his team believes that the 'gang issue' must be addressed, however, they also believe that there are times when the wrong person gets a finger pointed at them and needs a powerful, experienced attorney to untangle the web of lies woven to make them look guilty.
Contacting Robert Helfend is the first step down a wise road that can lead to a not guilty verdict and peace of mind once again.
