The five boys, all eighteen years old, were on their way to Big Bear for snowboarding when they got the bright idea to get some beer. Presumably because they are too young to buy, they concocted the idea to steal beer from a local corner store.
All five entered the store and while one of the boys engaged the clerk in conversation, or in some other way distracted him, the rest executed the crime. However, the clerk saw the other boys stealing the beer and tried to stop them.
At that point the crime went from theft to a 'semi-violent' robbery because in order to stop the clerk one of the teenagers punched him in the face.
The boys loaded into a red Jeep and fled the scene. They were later spotted by a police helicopter and all five have been arrested. Now the boys face assault and robbery charges and all because they wanted a beer.
Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend could help the families of these boys. Understanding that the crime is serious, Robert Helfend could put together a defense plan in an effort to see the charges against the boys reduced or even dropped. He won't promise a specific outcome but he will work hard for you.
If you are the parents of these or any young people who are in need of a great defense attorney in the Los Angeles area, contact Defense Attorney Robert Helfend the moment charges are filed.
