On August 23 one of Long beach's finest will have a preliminary hearing to determine his future. Accused of several counts pertaining to grand theft, 32 year old Damien Ramos will face up to eight years in prison and the loss of his job and his way of life.
Ramos allegedly stole several guns that were surrendered to the police. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
"Upon learning of the potential misconduct by one of our own, we took swift action to ensure that the investigation was handled thoroughly," Stated Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell "It is our responsibility to ensure the public's trust within our Police Department, and anyone who compromises the integrity of this organization will be dealt with immediately."
After finding that records did not match inventory, investigators served warrants on Ramos' home and other areas and recovered one of the guns.
