In a previous blog the Los Angeles Crossbow Killer, a man who had allegedly killed a man simply to frighten his step daughter into submission, had been captured and was being tried for first degree murder.
This past week in a court in LA Curtis Scott was sentenced to 64 years to life in a California state prison.
Scott wanted to demonstrate to his stepdaughter that he could and would kill a person because he felt she was becoming too independent. He therefore took his crossbow to a random intersection and shot a man in the chest. The man he shot and killed was a retired Air Force Base employee and was only out for a late night walk.
There has been no report as to the mental state of his teenage stepdaughter. She was sitting beside the killer on the night in question.
In a case like this Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend could have helped. Before you are tried and convicted, call the law offices of the man who can and will fight hard for your rights in an effort to keep you out of jail or even prison.
In California anyone who commits an act of murder could be up against the death penalty and although this seems like the worst case scenario, life in prison can also be extremely unbearable. Don't try and fight these charges alone or with a lawyer who will give your case to a paralegal or an associate. Hire Ventura County Defense Attorney Robert Helfend and know he will personally stand beside you through the entire ordeal.
