Southern California is a notoriously dangerous area. It is widely accepted that gangs run free in any big city and that you are taking your life in your own hands by simply walking down the street.

Those stereotypes came alive for one 40 year old man this past week. He was at his own home just after 8 o'clock in the evening when four men entered and beat him with hammers.
Although he was hospitalized for head injuries sustained during the beating, police report that the injuries do not seem to be life threatening.
Investigators have arrested one 30 year old suspect and have also seized two cars. They hope to put together the details to better understand why this man was targeted and what they can do to stop future attacks by the same gang of men.
"There are no more serious charges than murder. If you have been charged with first degree murder, homicide, or a manslaughter charge, your attorney has to be experienced, and more importantly, better be very good.
My reputation for integrity among prosecutors and judges is extremely important. When we file a motion to suppress evidence, it is taken seriously. When we argue for a reduced charge based on legal and personal grounds, our arguments will be respected. If your case goes to court for trial, I promise that the judge and jury will clearly understand how serious we are about an acquittal of the charges." - Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend.
