If you find yourself in a situation where your teenager is in trouble with the law due to a prank, misunderstanding or even intentional crime, contact the law offices of Los Angeles Defense Attorney Robert Michael Helfend.
Mr. Helfend has seen success in defending the residents of Los Angeles for over two decades and will work hard to keep your child out of jail and back on the right side of the law. Even though no lawyer can or should make promises concerning verdicts, Robert Helfend will promise to work hard and use every legal maneuver he can to get your family the best outcome possible.
Dorsey High School in South Los Angeles is trying to do it's part in cutting down on teen crime and, perhaps even more importantly, repeat offenders. They are using a 25 year old idea called "Teen Juries". The concept is exactly what it sounds like. A group of actual peers sets a scene for a trial which is presided over by Judge David Wesley. The teens hear the case, ask questions, then dole out the punishment which can include acadenic probation, community service, and even a curfew.
The thought is that by gettting a chance to tell the story of their crime to people who are of the same age and simular background, the teens accused of misdemenors like theft, graffiti and even prostitution.
This is one of 17 courts of it's kind in the LA area and it's seeing success and although the numbers are not definitive they are very encouraging.
