Los Angeles Aggressive Defense Plan

The first of six defendants in a violent multiple murder went on trial today. Rodolfo Godinez, 26, is accused of being a recruiter for a violent gang who's members participated in the execution style killings of three students. Godinez's lawyer will argue that not only was Rodolfo merely a bystander and witness to this crime, but that he is borderline retarded and illiterate as well.
The lawyer's opening statements had the jurors stunned as the crime was described and the defense laid out. Godinez's attorney told the jury that:
"I'm not going to kid myself," he said. "You'd have to be made of stone not to have an emotional reaction to what you're going to hear in this case." but he pleaded with the jurors to keep an open mind where his client was and his involvement was concerned.
