Christine Daniel entered a not guilty plea on charges of tax evasion and fraud in a case involving religion, federal prison,
and a cure for cancer.
Daniel is accused of telling her patients at Sonrise Medical Clinic in San Fernando Valley that she had the cure for cancer. After prescribing her miracle, she allegedly didn't report any of the over 1.2 million dollars in coorporate income and $315,000 of personal income to the IRS.
Christine's attorney will argue that not only did the doctor never promise that her supplements (meant only to keep energy levels up) would cure cancer, but that she wasn't even drawing income during the time in question.
If convicted of the many charges for which she was arraigned including, tax evasion, wire fraud, mail fraud, witness tampering and criminal forfeiture charges, she could face up to 130 years in federal prison and up to 2.1 million dollars in fines. The trial is set for June.
