Ventura County Couple Charged With Fraud
A Ventura County pastor and his wife were arraigned on fraud charges last week in connection with the transfer of a home worth about half of a million dollars from an elderly man to the couple. According to investigators, the couple promised the victim a payment of $460,000 in exchange for the house, saying that the church needed space to house visitors and students. The victim was never paid for the home.
Reverend Alonzo McCowan, who works for the Solid Rock Christian Center is accused of two counts of theft from an elderly person and two counts of money-laundering. His wife Kimberly is charged with one count of grand theft and one count of money-laundering.
