Soccer Game Melee Leads To Ventura Assault
Police arrested one man in connection with a melee following a youth-league soccer game in Ventura last week. Police arrested Efrain Flores, a relative of one of the soccer players, on charges of assault, after Flores allegedly punched a 13-year old player from the other team.
Police say a fight broke out between players on the teams, and parents and fans rushed in, touching off a much larger confrontation. Flores, the older brother of a soccer player, ran onto the field and punched the 13-year old victim, who was taken to the hospital for treatment. Flores was arrested at the field and was charged with assault.
