Property Manager To Be Sentenced For Ventura Grand Theft
A former property manager for the Spanish Hills Homeowners' Association pleaded guilty to grand theft and filing a false tax return earlier this month. The woman, Daphne Brenon, 53, of Westlake Village admitted to embezzling funds from the association.
Brenon admitted to taking more than $150,000, but is believed to have stolen more than $400,000 in the period between 1998 and 2004. Brenon admitted writing checks from the association to herself and to her employer, Dahl Davis Property Management. She also had the association and a second organization write checks to Reynaldo Bernabe, a friend of hers, falsely claiming that Bernabe was a contractor. Bernabe pleaded guilty in June 2007 to grand theft and was sentenced to one year in jail and five years' probation.
