Camarillo Burglary Suspect Injures Resident
Camarillo residents are being urged by police to lock their doors and windows after a series of daytime Camarillo burglaries. In one incident, a burglar was surprised by a resident, who was subsequently injured in a scuffle with the intruder. In that incident, a burglar who was identified as a Hispanic juvenile between the ages of 15 and 18 threatened a resident with a large knife. The burglar gained access to the home trhough an open door. Follwing the altercation, the resident was treated at a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. The resident also reported that miscellaneous items were missing from the home. Police arrested a juvenile fitting the description of the assailant approximately one week later.
In the other burglaries, police say that electronics such as televisions, game consoles and computers are targeted by the thieves. Witnesses to the incidents say the burglars appear to be between 15 and 25 years of age. Twenty-two residential burglaries have been reported in the area since mid-May. Police have arrested at least ten people in connection with Camarillo burglaries since police noticed an uptick in the number of residential burglary reports in the spring.
