Bookkeeper May Have Embezzled $1M
A long-time bookkeeper for a medical practice group in Thousand Oaks has been accused of embezzlement totaling nearly one million dollars. Elizabeth Jones, 43, of Newbury Park, is accused of writing checks to herself, her creditors and others from accounts belonging to the group since at least 2002. She is scheduled to be arraigned on charges of grand theft, forgery, and computer fraud. The charges also include an aggravated white collar crime enhancement. If convicted on all charges, Jones faces a maximum sentence of 9 years in prison.
