Semi-Trailer Theft Leads To Arrest

Semi-Trailer Theft Leads To Arrest
A San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputy spotted a semi trailer on Phelan Road, west of Highway 395 while on his way to take a report on a semi-trailer theft. The truck was stolen from the Pilot Travel Center truck stop in Hesperia. The driver had gone into the truck stop for a few minutes and when he returned the truck was gone.
Deputy Dan Rodriguez was on his way to take a report of the theft when he spotted a truck matching the description of the vehicle on Phelan Road. He followed the truck to the Target store on Main Street and, after identifying the truck, arrested the driver, Randy Cardiel, 55, of Rosemead. The truck was recovered by the victim. Cardiel was charged with grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, cargo theft and burglary.
