Gang Members Arrested In Warrant Sweep
Seven alleged members of a white supremacist gang were arrested last week in San Bernardino County. The gang, the Inland Empire Skinheads, was targeted as part of an investigation into assaults on victims who were targeted because of their race. Several defendants have been charged with or have pleaded guilty to robbery, assault and gang activities, along with conspiracy charges.
The gang allegedly recruited prospective members, many of whom were children, using MySpace. Prospective gang members were ordered to assault strangers outside nightclubs in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Preliminary hearings were held for all seven suspects.
Joseph Mason, 20, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit assault and gang activities. Two other members, Joshua Butler and Carrie Goodwin, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit residential robbery and gang activity. Police said that Goodwin, who was pregnant at the time she was arrested, tried to induce labor the day of her arrest, April 20, because it was Adolf Hitler's birthday. The other four suspects are scheduled to be back in court later this month.
